As a specialty compounding pharmacy, Great Earth Compounding Pharmacy is one the few pharmacies in California to compound Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Dr Nikki Arguinzoni-Gil (Dr Nikki), a Naturopathic Doctor in Los Angeles, shares with us her experience working with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) to help change the lives of her patients. “There is much that I have seen in my career that has really impressed me in terms of how patients respond to treatment, but rarely do I come across something that is truly a game changer. That is exactly what Low-dose Naltrexone (LDN) is, a life altering, gem of a drug that most people don’t even know exist”-Dr Nikki.

What exactly is LDN and what is it’s mechanism of action?

The drug Naltrexone, is typically used for treatment of opiate and alcohol dependence. Naltrexone doses can range anywhere from 50mg – 100mg while LDN doses range from 0.5mg-4.5mg. LDN works by fooling the body into thinking that it has a low level of endorphins by blocking opiod receptors while you are sleeping. The body then responds by raising endorphin levels. Endorphins play a large role in controlling the immune system and the endocrine system, thus when increased through use of LDN, it promotes healing, reduces inflammation, and inhibits cell growth (such as tumor growth).

What conditions does LDN treat?

Some of the conditions that can be treated with LDN include: Crohn’s disease, Lupus, Hashimotos’ Thyroiditis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis, Diabetes Type 1, Cancer, Psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis, Lyme’s Disease, Infertility, Parkinson’s, HIV, and many more. It also can be used for cancer prevention or recurrence. There are numerous studies outlining the benefits of LDN. In one study, 50% of patients with Fibromyalgia reported symptom improvement with Low Dose Naltrexone.

How Does LDN Work?

LDN appears to work on numerous conditions simply because so many serious conditions share the same root cause, that is, the immune system has malfunctioned and is not able to fix itself. That’s what makes LDN such a gem, it helps to fix the malfunctioned immune system which often ultimately resolves the ailing condition.

Patient Testimonial

Dr Nikki reports: “I have been very blessed to witness the transformation in my patients on LDN. Not only have their health taken a change for the better, but the lives of their loved ones have improved greatly as well. The emotional and mental stress that weigh on patients and their families can often times carry more of a burden than the illness itself, so watching that weight get lifted off of all involved truly makes me happy. LDN is not a miracle drug, but it definitely provides benefits that other kinds of treatments do not”. In fact, one of Dr Nikki’s patients reported being able to enjoy food again after 15years without pain and discomfort (caused by Crohn’s Disease) after being on Dr Nikki’s medical protocol which included LDN.

A Personal Note From Dr Nikki

Aside from its amazing ability to modulate the immune system, LDN is a great treatment to consider because it is very affordable, less than $50 a month. It is also very safe, as it has a very clean history with no severe reactions or fatalities… thousands of people die every year from aspirin or NSAIDS.

Where can I get LDN?

Not everyone knows about LDN and thus can’t take advantage of it, but hopefully now, that will change. LDN is not offered in any neighborhood pharmacy. It can only be found at a handful of compounding pharmacies and available by prescription only.
